Missed Us? Bar Bario returns to Hal West for Pride, fulfilling its mission to create an intentional, inclusive space. Our pop-up café offers a Queer haven of calm amidst the overwhelming Pride business, with its familiar warm energy, iconic drinks, and a rich selection of community events.
At its heart is a powerful intersectional exhibition highlighting the layered realities of Queer artists of color. Their work explores the tensions between multiple marginalized identities, inviting visitors to reflect on the complexity of self-definition. By immersing yourself in these stories, you may just break through the isolation that can exist within your own identity.

Beyond Pride: Exhibition Closing & Screening FLEE/ 6 August 19:30-23:00
Enjoy a Beyond Bario curated exhibition, highlighting intersectionality between different cultural backgrounds & Queerness and close off your Pride week with a screening of the short film FLEE.
The animated documentary Flee tells the extraordinary, true story of Amin Nawabi, who fled Afghanistan as an unaccompanied minor and eventually built a life in Denmark. Now 36, a successful academic, and preparing to marry his long-term partner Kasper, Amin finally confronts the past he has long carried alone, sharing his story with friend and filmmaker Jonas Poher Rasmussen. The film traces his journey from war-torn Kabul, through the perilous escape via Moscow, to a life in Denmark where he can live openly as a gay man—an existence he once thought impossible. Through animation, narrative, and music, Flee transforms personal trauma into a deeply affecting, almost therapeutic experience, leaving an indelible impression on viewers.
